Montrose Cricket Club secure Proteas seamer

Parnell will join Peterson at Montrose Cricket Club.

South African seamer Wayne Parnell has joined Montrose Cricket Club ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Parnell swapped franchise allegiance in April, leaving the Warriors for the Cobras – and won’t likely play a lot of club cricket due to domestic and international commitments.

“We’ve already got [Proteas spinner] Robin Peterson at the club, and he is close to Wayne. They probably won’t play for us much, but it’s good to have them around when available,” MCC chairman Razeen Allie told Club Cricket SA.

“We won’t be paying Wayne anything. He and Robin are community guys. They’re in it for the love of the game and the club.”

Montrose Cricket Club will field teams in the Western Province Cricket Association’s first division A, reserve league F, reserve league G, third division C and third division D this year – and recently welcomed a new home ground.

Established more than 60 years ago, the Cape Town club adopted venues at Rocklands to Rylands, Pinelands and Claremont – and have finally settled in Observatory, at Malta Park.
