Batsman Byron Boshoff has been appointed vice-captain of Durbanville Cricket Club’s premier league XI, ahead of the 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association season.

He has succeeded outgoing vice-captain Jaco Castle. The experienced Kuda Samunderu, meanwhile, has retained the captaincy.

Boshoff enjoyed a fine stretch of form during the 2016-17 season, as Durbanville Cricket Club finished in second position in the premier league.

An entertaining 167 against eventual champions Bellville Cricket Club was particularly impressive while the talented right-hander also welcomed a century against Primrose Cricket Club.

Durbanville Cricket Club have also instated changes at the helm of their reserve division A team, with the reliable Henry Griffiths and Ishmail September named captain and vice-captain, respectively.

Cape Town Cricket Club, Western Province Cricket Club and Rondebosch Criket Club secured positions three, four and five, respectively, in the 10-team 2016-17 premier league, which will be extended to 12 sides – including Brackenfell Cricket Club – in 2017-18.
