Rippon was drafted into the Vancouver Knights’ squad earlier this year. Proteas pair Andile Phehlukwayo and Rassie van der Dussen, New Zealand seamer Tim Southee, Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik and West Indian pair Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will be his team-mates at the Knights.

Other players from South Africa at Global T20 Canada

Other South Africans – including the Edmonton Royals’ Faf du Plessis, Toronto Nationals’ Heinrich Klaasen and Winnipeg Hawks’ JP Duminy – will also compete in the second edition of the Global T20 Canada.

Former Cape Cobras spinner Rippon has played six ODIs and 18 T20Is for the Netherlands – and is pursuing a career in New Zealand with Otago. The Global T20 Canada will start on 25 July and end on 11 August. The Knights are the reigning champions.

Meanwhile, in the Euro T20 Slam

Last week saw University of Pretoria Cricket Club (Tuks) all-rounder Corbin Bosch secure a contract in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam.

Bosch has been recruited by the Dublin Chiefs for the 2019 tournament, which will start in late August. He will be team-mates with England captain Eoin Morgan, Australian all-rounder Dan Christian, Pakistan pair Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam – and several other international cricketers at the Chiefs.
