Ottoman Cricket Club’s Zahid Canfield recently struck a remarkable six sixes in one over in a key Western Province Cricket Association third division B fixture against Blue Bells Cricket Club in Surrey Estate, Cape Town.

The unfortunate bowler was spinner Dean Frans, as Canfield’s rare feat carried him to a swashbuckling half-century off a mere 12 deliveries.

He eventually finished on 59 not out, as Ottoman Cricket Club surpassed a modest 137-run target with a convincing 21.3 overs to spare.

The hard-hitting right-hander repeated, admittedly at a substantially lower level, the achievements of international batsmen Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.

South Africa’s Gibbs struck the Netherlands’ Daan van Bunge for six sixes in one over during the World Cup in March 2007, while India’s Singh replicated the record off England’s Stuart Broad during the World Twenty20 six months later.
