Club Cricket SA earmark six club cricketers for success in pool C of the Africa T20 Cup.
Easterns
Ernest Kemm
Benoni Northerns Cricket Club’s Kemm played a particularly solid innings against eventual champions Crusaders Cricket Club during the 2015 National Club Championship – and opened the batting alongside Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock in the 2015 Africa T20 Cup.
Wesley Marshall
The hard-hitting Kempton Park Cricket Club right-hander enjoyed a superb stretch of form at the National Club Championship in Pretoria earlier this year, with a brisk 138 not out against Old Selbornians Cricket Club from East London epitomsing his talent.
Free State
Dillon du Preez
The veteran seamer boasts Indian Premier League experience with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and, when not playing franchise or provincial cricket, still humbly associates himself with Bobbies Cricket Club in the Free State.
Shadley van Schalkwyk
The Old Andreans Cricket Club fast bowler is one of only three players in the Free State squad who don’t hail from the Central University of Technology Cricket Club or University of Free State Cricket Club.
Border
Ayabulela Gqamane
Burgeoning all-rounder Gqamane played just one Africa T20 Cup fixture in 2015, proving expensive with the ball and inadequate with the bat. Thanks, in part, to the influence of new United Brothers Cricket Club coach Abongile Sodomo, he’ll be eager to improve.
Gionne Koopman
A huge asset to United Cricket Club in East London, Koopman opened Border’s batting and bowling against North West and KwaZulu-Natal Inland in last year’s Africa T20 Cup.
