Seamer Brandon Viret has left Brackenfell Cricket Club for Bellville Cricket Club ahead of the 2023-24 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Viret was with Brackenfell Cricket Club since 2019, after joining from Durbanville Cricket Club.
He played first-class cricket from 2009 to 2014 – and was capped by Western Province, Eastern Province and Namibia at this level.
“I enjoyed my few seasons at Brackenfell. I gave it my all for the team and the team gave their all for me. It is a pity they have been relegated, but I’m confident they’ll bounce back,” Viret told Club Cricket SA.
“For me, the time is right to move on – and I am happy to call Bellville Cricket Club my new home in the WPCA premier league.
“I played at Bellville previously, as a junior, so this is like coming full circle. I am keen to get going with them and see how well we can do in the premier league this time.
“I am seriously grateful to everyone at Brackenfell. I wish them well.”
Brackenfell Cricket Club have been relegated to the 2023-24 WPCA first division A after ending the 2022-23 premier league in second-last position.
Bellville Cricket Club have retained premier league status after ending the 2022-23 campaign in third-last position.
Bellville Cricket Club have also signed all-rounder Philip Kleynhans from Brackenfell Cricket Club. All-rounder Lehan Botha has joined Bellville Cricket Club, too.
