Claremont Cricket Club beat Primrose Cricket Club by 13 runs in last week’s 2022-23 Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league final.
The final was played at Rondebosch Cricket Club’s Terry Eksteen Oval, where Claremont Cricket Club posted a final total of 125 for five in 20 overs. Number three batsman Richard Wallace top-scored with 50 not out.
Primrose Cricket Club replied with 112 for nine, as Claremont Cricket Club’s Nicholas Preston took a hat-trick with the fourth, fifth and sixth deliveries of the 10th over.
This is Claremont Cricket Club’s maiden Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league title. They had lost the 2021-22 final to Montrose Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, Brackenfell Cricket Club beat Pinelands Cricket Club to clinch third position in the 2022-23 Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league.
