Did you know Cape Town Cricket Club captain Geoff Dods is currently playing for Essex County Cricket Club second XI?
The 25-year-old left-handed batsman and right-arm seamer has featured in a string of challenging Second XI Trophy and Championship fixtures.
Dods, who represents Burridge Cricket Club during the South African winter, has enjoyed a particularly fine stretch of form through July and August.
“In my opinion, Dods is the best all-rounder in the league. He gives you everything, he is dogged and never gives his wicket. In three seasons, he has bowled badly once, which probably tells you something about his consistency,” The News, Portsmouth, quoted Burridge captain Rick Ankers as saying recently.
This is not CTCC’s first association with Essex, as Royal London One-Day Cup and County Championship Division two all-rounder Greg Smith played for the Plumstead-based team during the 2014-15 season.
