Milnerton Cricket Club have appointed the vastly experienced Laurie Ward as head coach ahead of the 2015-16 season.
MCC gained promotion to the Western Province Cricket Association’s first division A league on the back of a successful 2014-15 campaign – and Ward’s acquisition will continue the club’s pursuit of higher honours.
“The focus in the off-season has been setting up the structures in order to ensure that MCC will again be a force to be reckoned with,” said chairman Mike Reynders.
“Laurie has been hard at work with indoor net sessions at the High Performance Centre in Montague Gardens. The playing squad has also been strengthened in order to create depth.”
MCC will be accompanied by the relegated Edgemead Cricket Club and University of Cape Town Cricket Club, the promoted Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club – and Tygerberg Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Montrose Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club, Avendale Cricket Club and Fish Hoek Cricket Club in the first division A this season.
