Outgoing Proteas head coach Mark Boucher has been appointed head coach of the Mumbai Indians for the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Boucher has succeed former Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene, who has been promoted to global head of performance.
What Boucher said
“It is an honour and privilege to be appointed as head coach of MI,” said Boucher.
“Their history and achievements as a franchise clearly put them up there as one of the most successful sporting franchises in all of world sport.
“I look forward to the challenge and respect the need for results. It’s a strong unit with great leadership and players. I look forward to adding value to this dynamic unit.”
The Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of the IPL with five titles.
Boucher in the IPL
Boucher has worked with an IPL franchise previously. He was Kolkata Knight Riders’ wicketkeeper consultant in 2016. He also played for KKR and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
