Proteas fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of this week’s second Test against the West Indies at the Wanderers.

Nortje, who took six wickets in last week’s first Test in Centurion, has been sidelined by injury.

Meanwhile, bowling coach Charl Langeveldt’s tenure has ended early. Langeveldt was due to leave the role after the series. He will be replaced by new Proteas bowling coach Piet Botha.

“Nortje experienced mild groin discomfort during the first Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion, and as a precaution, has been asked to rest following an assessment by South Africa’s medical team,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa. “A replacement has not been named.

“Langeveldt has also been released from the squad due to family reasons, with the first Test subsequently his last as bowling coach.”

South Africa lead the two-Test series after an 87-run victory in Centurion.
