Zubayr Hamza withdraws from ODI squad, Ryan Rickelton in

Batsman Ryan Rickelton has been added to South Africa’s squad for the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh.

Rickelton has replaced fellow batsman Zubayr Hamza, who has withdrawn due to personal reasons.

De Kock out of first ODI

Wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock was not named in the XI for Friday’s first ODI at SuperSport Park in Centurion due to illness.

The Proteas are also without fast bowler Anrich Nortje, who has has been sidelined by injury for an extended period.

Hamza out of Test series as well

Hamza was not included in the squad for the Test series against Bangladesh. The squad features uncapped fast bowler Daryn Dupavillon and batsman Khaya Zondo.

Zondo and Dupavillon have been capped at ODI level, but not in Test cricket. Rickelton and seamer Lizaad Williams have also been included.

The Test squad is without several first-choice players, who have chosen to participate in the Indian Premier League rather than this series.

The notable absentees include fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada, batsmen Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram – and all-rounders Marco Jansen and Dwaine Pretorius.
