Who is Justin Sammons?
Justin Sammons was the batting consultant for the Proteas in Test, ODI and T20I cricket. He left the role in late February 2023.
Justin Sammons cricket career
Sammons was never capped at first-class or List A level, but played plenty of competitive club cricket for Alberton Cricket Club in Gauteng.
He also played club cricket in the Netherlands.
Justin Sammons – Proteas batting consultant
Sammons joined the Proteas’ coaching staff in 2021 for a tour of Sri Lanka.
He remained with the team for the T20 World Cup in the same year, through 2022 and into 2023.
Sammons worked under former Proteas head coach Mark Boucher and interim Proteas head coach Malibongwe Maketa.

Sammons was batting coach of North West in division one of South African domestic cricket when promoted to the Proteas’ staff in 2021.
Justin Sammons cricket career in coaching – Lions
Sammons also worked with the Lions in domestic cricket.
He was appointed in 2017 and remained in the post for several seasons.
Justin Sammons cricket coaching in the MSL
Sammons worked with the Jozi Stars during the 2018 edition of the Mzansi Super League.
The Stars won the MSL title under the guidance of head coach Enoch Nkwe, Sammons and others.
