Cricket South Africa have announced the squads for this year’s Rural Inland Week.
Polokwane, Limpopo, will host the tournament from 17 to 20 February 2022.
The participating teams are Gauteng, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal Coastal, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and North West.
A few teams boast players with first-class experience, including KwaZulu-Natal Inland’s Nick Hewer and Northern Cape’s Gerrit Cloete.

What CSA said
“Rural cricket has always been the backbone of our pathway and it is important that this remains the case,” said CSA acting chief executive officer Pholetsi Moseki.
“It is crucial that we access the entire population of South Africa to create a larger talent pool that will ensure that the players rising to the top are the best we can produce, for our teams to be the best in world cricket.”
CSA senior cricket manager Johan Weyers added: “This tournament focuses on the development of rural cricketers who are not part of our high-performance programs and provides a platform from whom the identified players contest for higher honors to showcase their skills.
“There is an important need to provide an incentive for our rural communities to challenge for titles and to unearth abundant talent, that might otherwise not be noticed.”
CSA Rural Coastal Week
The CSA Rural Coastal Week will follow from 23 to 28 February 2022. It will be hosted by Oudtshoorn.
The teams involved will be with the following teams: Eastern Province Midlands, Eastern Province Grahamstown, Border Aloes, Border Country, Border Villages, Kei, Boland and South Western Districts.
