2021 MVP Corne Dry stays with Atlanta Fire for 2022 Minor League Cricket

Former Knights seamer Corne Dry has been retained by the Atlanta Fire for the 2022 Minor League Cricket Championship in the United States of America.

Dry was named one of four Most Valuable Players after the inaugural tournament in 2021.

While other South Africans – including new Morrisville Cardinals duo Dane Piedt and Obus Pienaar – have moved to new teams, Dry has remained with the Atlanta Fire.

The Fire compete in the southern division of the Atlantic conference in the Minor League Cricket Championship.

The Silicon Valley Strikers are the title holders in the Minor League Cricket Championship. They beat the New Jersey Stallions in the 2021 final.

Minor League Cricket is effectively a pathway to Major League Cricket, which is due to launch in 2023 as a six-team tournament akin to other successful T20 brands around the world.

It has received significant investment from Microsoft chief executive officer Satya Nadella, the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and other cricket and business personalities.
