The Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa have announced the South Africa Over-40 squad.
The squad was named after this week’s over-40 inter-provincial tournament in Johannesburg. Western Province Over-40 beat East Rand Over-40 in the final.
Lions Over-40 captain Warren Dugmore was named Batsman of the Tournament and Western Province Over-40 spinner Wayne Hendricks Bowler of the Tournament.
Border Over-40 all-rounder Lundi Mbane was named Player of the Tournament.
The 16-man South Africa Over-40 squad features six players from Western Province Over-40, four from Lions Over-40 and two from East Rand Over-40.
Dolphins Over-40 and Boland Over-40, who finished in second-last and last position respectively in the inter-provincial tournament, have one representative each.
Border Over-40 and Eastern Province Over-40 have one representative each, too. Titans Over-40 failed to have a player selected for South Africa Over-40.
The South Africa Over-40 squad will compete in the Africa Cup later this year.
