Joburg Super Kings spinner Aaron Phangiso has been suspended from bowling in the SA20.
Phangiso was reported for a suspected illegal bowling action last week.
This week, the SA20’s independent bowling action panel confirmed Phangiso’s bowling action does not conform to the International Cricket Council’s regulations.
The independent bowling action panel, which includes former Proteas seamer Vernon Philander, deemed Phangiso bowled with a non-compliant action during 17 January’s fixture against the Pretoria Capitals at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The Joburg Super Kings have since requested Phangiso’s bowling action be tested under laboratory conditions at an ICC-accredited centre. If the ICC testing reveals his bowling action is legal, he will be allowed to bowl again.
Phangiso was not included in the Joburg Super Kings’ squad initially. He was belatedly added as a wildcard.
The 38-year-old has been capped 37 times in international cricket. He has not played an ODI or T20I since 2018.

Phangiso was also reported for a suspected illegal bowling action while playing for the Lions in February 2016.
