Abdoellaah Steenkamp nominated for CSA Umpire of the Year award

Umpire Abdoellaah Steenkamp has been nominated for a Cricket South Africa award.

Steenkamp is among four nominees in the Umpire of the Year category ahead of early July 2023’s CSA awards ceremony.

He has officiated in 74 first-class matches – and is the only nominee who hasn’t umpired in men’s or women’s international cricket.

Paleker is CSA’s reigning Umpire of the Year and Umpires’ Umpire of the Year.

“It is an absolute honour to congratulate all the nominees for the 2022-23 CSA awards,” said CSA chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki.

“Through these prestigious awards, CSA wishes to celebrate every single individual who has inspired the next generation through their efforts on and off the field, while also upholding CSA’s vision and mission.”

The CSA awards ceremony will happen on 7 July 2023.
