South Africa Over-50 all-rounder Alan Dawson was named Veterans Cricketer of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s pathway awards ceremony for the 2022-23 season on Friday.
South Africa Over-40’s Kyle Smit and South Africa Over-60’s Trevor Poole had been nominated for CSA’s Veterans Cricketer of the Year award, too.
Dawson, who played two Tests and 19 ODIs for the Proteas from 1998 to 2004, was key to South Africa’s Over-50 World Cup campaign earlier this year. South Africa Over-50 lost the final to England Over-50 at Newlands.
