The Sunrisers Eastern Cape have signed spinner AM Ghazanfar in the SA20.
Ghazanfar was in Mumbai Indians’ squad for the 2025 Indian Premier League, but later withdrew due to injury.
He has also played for MI Emirates in the International League T20 in the United Arab Emirates.
Ghazanfar has taken 25 wickets in one Test and 11 ODIs for Afghanistan.
The Sunrisers won the inaugural SA20 title in 2023. They successfully defended the title in 2024.
Several England players were with the Sunrisers in 2024, including seamer Richard Gleeson, batsman Zak Crawley, all-rounder Craig Overton and spinner Liam Dawson. The Sunrisers also had Proteas all-rounder Marco Jansen – and batsman Tristan Stubbs and Aiden Markram.
MI Cape Town are the reigning SA20 champions. They beat the Sunrisers in the 2025 final.
“The fourth season of the competition will start on 26 December 2025, with major announcements around fixtures, player signings and the auction to be communicated soon,” read a statement from the SA20.
