Andrew Puttick and Vernon Philander named in South Africa Legends squad

Former Proteas cricketers Vernon Philander and Andrew Puttick have been included in the South Africa Legends squad for this month’s Road Safety World Series in India.

Puttick was in the squad for the 2021 Road Safety World Series.

He is among several retentions from last year’s squad. These include captain Jonty Rhodes, wicketkeeper-batsman Morne van Wyk and all-rounder Zander de Bruyn.

Philander, batsman Jacques Rudolph, all-rounder Lance Klusener and others have been named in the squad for the first time.

South Africa Legends reached the semi-finals stage of the 2021 Road Safety World Series.

Batsman Loots Bosman, all-rounder Justin Kemp and seamers Roger Telemachus and Mornantau Hayward were in the 2021 squad, but have not been retained for 2022.

This year’s eight-team Road Safety World Series will also feature England Legends, West Indies Legends, New Zealand Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, India Legends, Australia Legends and Bangladesh Legends.

India Legends are the reigning Road Safety World Series champions. They beat Sri Lanka Legends in the 2021 final.
