Former South Africa Under-19 cricketer Dean Foxcroft has been named in New Zealand’s squad for next month’s T20I series against United Arab Emirates.
Foxcroft relocated from South Africa to New Zealand in 2016. He currently plays for Otago after leaving Central Districts.
The 25-year-old Foxcroft, who has also played for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, debuted for New Zealand A against Australia A earlier this year.
“It’s always exciting to introduce new players to the Black Caps environment and especially so when they’re on the younger side, as Dean is,” said New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.
“Dean’s been a really consistent performer domestically. He’s a talented and adaptable batter who also bowls useful off-spin, so will add to our spinning stocks, which is always valued in white-ball cricket.”
Foxcroft has joined fellow former South Africa Under-19 cricketer Chad Bowes in New Zealand’s T20I squad for August 2023’s three T20Is against UAE. Bowes has played four ODIs and eight T20Is for New Zealand.
