Cravenby Cricket Club’s preparation ahead of a challenging 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association first division C campaign has received a boost.

The experienced Imraan Gihwala has been appointed head coach – and talented all-rounder Jody Derby has returned. Derby previously represented Cravenby Cricket Club before departing for Atlantis Cricket Club, for four seasons.

“I am going back to where it all started for me. I would like to thank Atlantis Cricket Club for everything they have done for me for the last four seasons,” said Derby recently.

Cravenby Cricket Club occupied fourth position in 2016-17’s 10-team first division C, after six victories in nine attempts. Atlantis Cricket Club finished in fifth spot, after one less win in as many matches.

According to the WPCA’s first draft of fixtures for the 2017-18 first division C, Cravenby Cricket Club and Atlantis Cricket Club will contest an intriguing season opener on 21 October. The former will travel to Wynberg Cricket Club and the latter host Macassar Cricket Club a week later.
