Spinner Aubrey Swanepoel has been named captain of the Northern Cape Heat for Cricket South Africa’s new T20 Knockout tournament.
The Heat have been pooled with Western Province, Gauteng and South Western Districts. Their group fixtures will be played in Kimberley.

“We all realise this is a massive opportunity for the team, staff and the people of the Northern Cape and we are excited to make an impact,” said Swanepoel.
“Being a Division two team, we are playing against two division one teams, but we feel on our day we can compete against anybody.”
Heat include Qaasim Adams, Isaac Dikgale
Former Western Province and Cape Cobras batsman Qaasim Adams and wicketkeeper Isaac Dikgale have been included in the Northern Cape squad.
“We have a nice blend of experienced players and exciting youngsters which bodes well for the future,” added head coach Mark Charlton.
“We want to create a long-term legacy where we build and invest in our pipeline, and we are confident that this will bear fruit in the future.”
