Seamer Basheer Walters retired from domestic cricket in South Africa this month.
Walters took 382 wickets in 147 first-class matches from 2007 to 2025.
His first first-class team was Eastern Province. His last was Northern Cape.
“I am tired of the struggle. I am tired of having to prove myself every year,” Walters told Club Cricket SA.
“I am excited to get into coaching. I am going to become the coach I wanted, that I needed in my career.”

The 38-year-old Walters also played first-class cricket for:
- Warriors;
- Titans;
- Western Province;
- South Western Districts;
- Border; and
- Easterns.
Walters also took 155 wickets in List A cricket – and 80 in T20s.

- Sarel Erwee;
- Kelly Smuts;
- Divan Posthumus;
- Matthew Kleinveldt;
- Keenan Vieira;

- Tian Koekemoer.
