Seamer Evert Carstens will reach a milestone for Bellville Cricket Club this week.
Saturday, 25 January’s Western Province Cricket Association premier league fixture against Rondebosch Cricket Club will be Carstens’ 100th first XI cap for Bellville Cricket Club.
Earlier this season, captain and all-rounder Marcus Fourie reached 100 first XI caps for Bellville Cricket Club as well. He is currently their leading wicket-taker and run-scorer in this season’s WPCA premier league.
Meanwhile, seamer Arno Watson collected a 200th cap for Bellville Cricket Club recently. Watson is currently in Bellville Cricket Club’s fifth XI, who compete in the WPCA third division A.
“We are tremendously proud of these three players. It was easy for players to change clubs after the Covid period, especially when Bellville went through a dip, but these guys stood strong and stayed with us. I have the utmost respect for that,” said Bellville Cricket Club chairman Martin Harmsen.
“I hope that we can have many more years of their talent and their strong leadership in our first XI in the coming seasons. They have my full support and the full support of our committee, members and supporters.
“These are exceptional and fantastic achievements from these players.”
Bellville Cricket Club are currently in first position on the 2024-25 WPCA premier league points table. They have won 10 and lost three matches.
