Bergvliet Cricket Club are in mourning after the death of committee member and player Jonathan Thomas.

Thomas passed away earlier this month, due to complications related to the coronavirus.

“It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of club stalwart Jonathan ‘Frank the Tank’ Thomas, who sadly lost his battle with Covid-19 12 days ago,” read a statement from Bergvliet Cricket Club.

“Jonathan had been an integral part of Bergvliet’s development over the years and had a big hand in restarting the club back in 2012.

“He was a passionate man who only had BCC’s best interests at heart and was still serving on the committee at the time of his death. He was the first centurion for the club and represented the first XI on over 100 occasions.

“Jonathan was well-loved in all his circles and his presence will be sorely missed. He leaves behind a legacy that we will continue to grow. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Elain and his family and close friends at this difficult time.”

Bergvliet Cricket Club compete in Western Province Cricket Association club competition in Cape Town.
