All-rounder Beyers Swanepoel has left the Warriors ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.

Swanepoel was the Warriors’ highest wicket-taker in the 2024-25 4-Day Domestic Series, division one. He was their joint-highest wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup, division one. He as their second-highest wicket-taker in the T20 Challenge.

Swanepoel, who was with the Warriors since 2022, has moved to the Lions.

He has County Championship experience with Kent – and has played for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20.

“I think Beyers signing was a very good one,” Netwerk24 quoted Lions bowling coach Allan Donald as saying.

“That’s a good tactical and strategic signing by head coach Russell Domingo. It gives us a bit of balance.

‘He’s a very good cricketer. I rate him very highly. He’s a very skilled bowler and everyone knows what he can do with the bat.

“I’ve been following him closely – you know, he’s a very intelligent cricketer and I think we’re going to benefit a lot from him and get a full season out of him. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
