South Africa have added spinner Bjorn Fortuin to the squad for the remainder of this month’s ODI series against Pakistan.
Fortuin has replaced the injured Keshav Maharaj.
“Maharaj has been ruled out for the remainder of the ODI series against Pakistan after scans revealed a left adductor strain,” read a statement from Cricket South Africa.
“He will return home to Durban for rehabilitation and will be reassessed ahead of the first Test against Pakistan. Fortuin has been named as his replacement for the final two ODIs.”
Pakistan have a lead in the three-ODI series. They won the series opener in Paarl. The second ODI will be played in Cape Town on Thursday. The third ODI will be played in Johannesburg on Sunday.
South Africa and Pakistan will contest two Tests after the ODI series.
