Blue Bells Cricket Club have named former Primrose Cricket Club, Wynberg Cricket Club, Hanover Park Cricket Club, St Augustine Cricket Club and Montrose Cricket Club seamer Shaamiel Bey head coach.
Blue Bells Cricket Club failed to win a match in 18 attempts during the 2018-19 Western Province Cricket Association first division B – and have consequently been relegated to the 2019-20 first division C.
What Bey said
“I have played for several clubs over the years – and I played for Blue Bells Cricket Club toward the end of last season. I saw that the composition of the first XI has a lot of talent,” Bey told Club Cricket SA.
“They had lot a few key players to Primrose Cricket Club and didn’t win one game in the season, but I saw improvement and I’d like to see that improvement continue with my input.
“I’m a seasoned campaigner and have been a player-coach for various teams for about 10 years. With Blue Bells Cricket Club looking to recover from relegation, I’d like to help them get promoted back to the division they were in.
“I look forward to helping get the best out of the team. I want them to play in the highest league possible. My intentions are clear, but I’m a low-key guy and will just do my thing at training and on match days.”
