The first edition of the Boland T10 was played in September 2024.
The Stellenbosch Kings won the inaugural Boland T10 title. They beat the Paarl Rocks in the final.
The six-team tournament also included:
- Northern Raiders;
- West Coast Blues;
- Overberg Indwe; and
- Wellington Wolves.
Several professional players participated in the amateur tournament, including Boland trio Gavin Kaplan, Pieter Malan and Imran Manack.
“Our best players need a pre-season platform. And while playing some of the matches in a bitterly cold winter in early September isn’t ideal, the cricket landscape is changing and we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to keep them interested,” Boland Cricket chief executive officer James Fortuin told Rapport.
Several betting sites listed markets and odds during the Boland T10. SimCash – a blockchain-enabled trading solution – were among the tournament sponsors.
“We are thrilled to have an esteemed company like SimCash onboard with us. Their commitment to add value to our tournament is awe-inspiring and something that we welcome with open arms,” said Fortuin at the time.
“We hope this incentive will lift the players and enable them to take their performances to the next level. We have witnessed some highly quality cricket even at this early stage of the competition and the season at large, and we hope that this announcement will further elevate the status of this new and exciting tournament.”
The inaugural Cape Town Club Cricket League, which was completed in April 2024, was also supported by betting sites. Durbanville Cricket Club won the 2024 Cape Town Club Cricket League title. Bellville Cricket Club finished in second position.
