Gbets – the sports betting subsidiary of the Goldrush Gaming Group – have been appointed exclusive naming rights partner for Boland, ahead of South Africa’s 2021-22 domestic season.
Boland have been placed in division one of the country’s new domestic structure, which will return to top-tier provincial cricket later this year. Franchise cricket has been dissolved.
They will also compete in the T20 Knock Out Competition – Cricket South Africa’s new limited-overs tournament.
What Boland president Angelo Carolissen said
“We have agreed to keep ‘The Rocks’ as the official name for the professional team across all formats of the game,” said Carolissen.
“This builds on the success of what we have achieved with the Paarl Rocks in recent years. We are also ecstatic to have Gbets on board as our partner, and effective immediately our team will be known as ‘Gbets Rocks’.
What Boland CEO James Fortuin said
“It is a historic day for cricket in the region. The Gbets sponsorship will go far in assisting us with our objectives to become a force in the A division of the new domestic league structure in the country.
“We see this as a natural evolution of success of the Paarl Rocks and to deepen our relationship with our loyal fans across our region, nationally and internationally.”
What Gbets online director William Reyneke said
“Sharing a vision of high motivation, integrity and success, Gbets is proud to partner with The Rocks. With both parties growing aggressively, our never-say-die attitude resonates strongly among both brands,” said Reyneke.
“It was also essential for Gbets to join forces with a champion team that shares the vision of winning and success.
“Our vision of mutual benefit and commitment to our respective supporters and customers is very much a priority. It gives us great pride that the big names of Gbets Rocks will don their iconic gold and purple kit with Gbets at the forefront.
We also believe the team name of Gbets Rocks is truly fitting for both parties and indicative of a winning vision founded on legacy and success.”
