The remainder of Club Cricket SA’s team to compete in the Cape Town Cricket Sixes festival, which will be played at Green Point Cricket Club on 19 and 20 March 2016, has been confirmed.
Featuring players from Fish Hoek Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Cape Town Cricket Club, Blue Bells Cricket Club and Green Point Cricket Club, Club Cricket SA will compete in the inaugural tournament’s premier league on Sunday.
Joining Blue Bells CC batsman Nasri Alexander and Claremont CC duo Liam Brittow and Leon Botha, are Cape Town CC trio Geoff Dods, Marc de Beer and Brendan Young. The unit will feature two former Club Cricket SA Players of the Week – Green Point CC wicketkeeper-batsman Zac Elkin and Ottoman Cricket Club batsman Muneer Holmes.
Western Province CC all-rounder Alessandro Bonora, meanwhile, has withdrawn – and will be replaced by Fish Hoek CC batsman Jamie Rood. Cape Town CC seamer Jonhenry Wilson will captain the side.
The 10-man squad’s opening fixture is against an invitational collective spearheaded by St Augustine Cricket Club veteran Dalin Oliver. Matches two and three will be against Green Point Cricket Club and Khayelitsha Cricket Club, respectively.
The tournament also boasts social, corporate, future stars, development, old boys cup and lager leagues.
Former South African fast bowlers Rory Kleinveldt, Meyrick Pringle and Allan Donald and all-rounder Robin Peterson will play for the Toshiba Tigers in the lager league.
