Victoria Cricket Club wicketkeeper-batsman Isaac Dikgale and Durbanville Cricket Club all-rounder Andre Malan were named in the Cape Cobras’ XI for this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series fixture against the Knights at Boland Park.
United Cricket Club’s Qaasim Adams, who hasn’t played first-class cricket for the Cobras since 2016, was also included in the XI.
Malan is the brother of Proteas T20I batsman Janneman Malan and recent Test squad inclusion Pieter Malan.
Dikgale has represented the Cobras in one List A fixture. This is his maiden first-class appearance for the franchise.
Vredenburg Saldanha Cricket Club seamer Lizaad Williams captained the XI in the absence of spinner Dane Piedt, who is currently with the South Africa A squad.
The Cobras also went without seamer Dane Paterson and wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne. Paterson has joined the Proteas ahead of the first Test against England at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Verreynne, too, is with South Africa A.
