Cape Town Cricket Club have appointed William Hantam director of cricket.

Hantam has played 120-plus first XI fixtures since joining Cape Town Cricket Club in 2015 – and held an informal senior leadership role within the club throughout.

What Cape Town Cricket Club said

“The CTCC committee is pleased to announce William Hantam as the new CTCC director of cricket,” read a statement from Cape Town Cricket Club.

“William has plenty of cricketing pedigree and love for the club.

“We look forward to his ongoing contribution in this increased capacity. He will continue to play and be director of cricket.

“William’s director of cricket predecessor, Jonhenry Wilson, will remain involved in the club in other strategic positions.”

What Hantam said

Hantam was capped 36 times at first-class level by Western Province and the Cape Cobras from 2005 and 2012.

He is also currently the head coach of the District Sixers in the Cape Premier League.

“I’m grateful to the CTCC committee for this opportunity. My predecessor did an amazing job and I look forward to continuing the good work – and building on it,” said Hantam.

“From here, we’ll look to strengthen the club for the long term and make sure we have a solid blue print in place going forward.”

Cape Town Cricket Club’s first and second XI compete in the WPCA premier league and reserve division A, respectively.
