Cape Town Cricket Club have appointed former first XI batsman William Hantam head coach ahead of the 2024-25 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Hantam has succeeded former player-coach Geoff Dods, whose playing career ended earlier this year.
“William has added immeasurable value to CTCC for an extended period – first as a player and later director of cricket,” read a statement from Cape Town Cricket Club.
“CTCC identified the need for a specialist head coach role several seasons ago. At a crucial juncture in the club’s progress, now is the time to make it happen – and William is a solid fit for this role.”
Cape Town Cricket Club ended the 2023-24 WPCA premier league in fourth position. They won 13 and lost eight matches.
Cape Town Cricket Club will be without all-rounder Christiaan Oberholzer for the 2024-25 WPCA premier league. Oberholzer has moved to reigning WPCA premier league champions Rondebosch Cricket Club.
