Spinner Matthew Olsen welcomed a 600th wicket for Cape Town Cricket Club’s first XI during Saturday, 12 March’s Western Province Cricket Association premier league fixture against Brackenfell Cricket Club at the Boon Wallace Oval.
The 600th wicket wicket came during his 282nd Cape Town Cricket Club first XI match.
Olsen’s overall career bowling average, spanning 20 years of first XI cricket at CTCC, is 17.9 and economy rate 3.3.

Olsen top first XI wicket-taker in CTCC history
Olsen is the leading first XI wicket-taker in the club’s recorded history, ahead former spinner Donovan Holman with 440.
Current fast bowlers Brendan Young and Darren Rolfe are in third and fourth position, respectively, with 360 and 343 wickets each.
Olsen debuted for Cape Town Cricket Club’s first XI during the 2001-02 WPCA club cricket season.
He has 20 five-wicket innings hauls. His best was seven for 20 against Edgemead Cricket Club during the 2014-15 season.
He also has three match 10-wicket hauls, which were taken when WPCA premier league and first division A clubs played two-day cricket several seasons ago.
His best was 13 for 70 – seven for 20 in the first innings and six for 50 in the second – in the aforementioned fixture against Edgemead Cricket Club.
