Spinner Matthew Olsen collected a 300th first XI cap for Cape Town Cricket Club this month.
Olsen’s milestone arrived against Western Province Cricket Club at the Wally Wilson Oval on 14 January 2023.
Olsen is the most capped first XI cricketer in the recorded history of WPCA club competition.
He has taken 600-plus first XI wickets since debuting during the 2001-02 season. The 500th wicket came in November 2017 and the 600th in March 2022. The 600-plus tally includes 21 five-wicket innings hauls.
He also features among the top 10 first XI run-scorers in Cape Town Cricket Club’s recorded history with almost 3,000, including four half-centuries.
Olsen is the current holder of Cape Town Cricket Club’s prestigious President’s Cup, which is “widely known as the most prestigious award at the club and awarded – annually – to the club member who has displayed exceptional and meritorious service over several years.”
