Matt Lever has been named captain – and Jarrett Sutton vice-captain – ahead of Fish Hoek Cricket Club’s 2016-17 Western Province Cricket Association first division B campaign.
Lever and Sutton have succeeded the outgoing Jonno Holgate and Derek Pedersen, respectively.
Fish Hoek Cricket Club were relegated from the first division A, in the wake of a disappointing 2015-16 season, which brought two victories and seven defeats in nine fixtures – and a ninth-place finish in the 10-team standings.
Their opening fixture of the 2016-17 season will be against Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club, who were also demoted from the first division A, on 15 and 22 October. Particularly challenging matches against Strandfontein Cricket Club and Hottentots Holland Cricket Club will follow.
Fish Hoek Club recently lost batsman Kyle Klopper, who has joined Claremont Cricket Club, and former player-coach Jamie Rood, who has been recruited by the University of Cape Town Cricket Club.
