South Africa Over-50 have made two changes to the squad for this month’s International Masters Cricket Over-50 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Western Province’s Faldie Abderouf and Border’s Lefty Ngece have exited the squad. Border’s Russell Bennett and Andrew Emslie have been added to the squad as replacements.
“Former Springboks fullback Bennett and Border stalwart Andrew Emslie have been added. Ngece has withdrawn due to personal reasons. Abderouf has withdrawn due to a recurring ankle injury,” read a statement from the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa.
South Africa, who have former Proteas seamer Tyron Henderson, have been pooled with the West Indies, Australia, Wales, India, Pakistan and Canada for the tournament.
The United Arab Emirates, United States of America, England, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Sri Lanka are the other seven in this year’s 14-team Over-50 World Cup.
England Over-50 are the reigning champions. They beat South Africa in 2023’s final.
