Batsman Chris Britz has exited North West for Northern Cape ahead of South Africa’s 2023-24 domestic season.

Britz debuted at North West two years ago – and has been capped seven times at first-class level since.

Northern Cape have also gained seamer Zakhele Qwabe from Limpopo, but lost batsman Rivaldo Moonsamy and all-rounder Kelly Smuts to the Titans and South Western Districts, respectively.

“We are very fortunate to have signed Chris Britz from the North West. He was a first division player and did very well there for a young man,” Northern Cape head coach Mark Charlton told OFM.

“Then we’ve also got Zakhele Qwabe, who has played for the Northern Cape in the past and he has signed on as a fast bowler.

“We are very pleased with those two signings and I think that we are going to have a really good and competitive squad again – a lot better than last year when we lost six players.”

Northern Cape have retained batsman Juan Landsberg and all-rounder Romano Terblanche. Both have been afforded full contracts.
