Claremont Cricket Club leg-spinner Kyle Williamson has been included in Western Province’s squad for this year’s Africa T20 Cup.

Williamson was one of 22 players who undertook a Western Province Cricket Association winter group skills programme from 16 July to 10 August 2018.

Earlier this year, he represented the WP Club XI against Western Province at the Vineyard Oval in Claremont, Cape Town.

“This year we are going to compete and push on for the semi-finals and finals weekend. It is great to see players selected from our Club XI who played a few games last season,” said Western Province Cricket Association cricket services manager Clinton du Preez.

“This is encouraging for all club cricketers who will have the confidence to access the high performance pipeline straight from the club cricket scene.”

United Cricket Club’s Qaasim Adams and Dane Paterson, Western Province Cricket Club’s Dayyaan Galiem and Michael Cohen, Durbanville Cricket Club’s Janneman Malan, Andre Malan and George Linde and Tygerberg Cricket Club’s Carlos Koyana have also been selected.

Western Province’s 2018 Africa T20 Cup campaign will start against Easterns at the Varsity Oval in Pietermaritzburg on 14 September. Key fixtures against KwaZulu-Natal, KwaZulu-Natal Inland and Uganda will follow.

Squad: Qaasim Adams, Jonathan Bird, Michael Cohen, Isaac Dikgale, Dayyaan Galiem, Carlos Koyana, George Linde, Bonga Makaka, André Malan (captain), Janneman Malan, Mpilo Njoloza, Dane Paterson, Kyle Williamson.
