Former Claremont Cricket Club president Fritz Bing died this week.
Bing was 89 years old.
“Fritz has a long history with Claremont Cricket Club, spanning over 70 years. He was a former first XI captain, chairman and president of the club,” read a statement from Claremont Cricket Club.
“Fritz was also a former president of Western Province Cricket Union, selector for the South African Cricket Union and manager of the first South African team to tour England post readmission.
“The club would like to send its heartfelt condolences to Fritz’s wife – Jenny, the Bing family and friends. Fritz was an honourary life member and patron of the club, and played an integral part in building the club to what it is and stands for today.
“Claremont Cricket Club and the extended cricket community lost a great servant of the game, but above all, a great man. His legacy will live on. May his soul rest in peace.”
His son, Greg Bing, is the current Claremont Cricket Club president.
