Claremont Cricket Club: Allison Johnson will not be retained as head coach

Claremont Cricket Club have not retained head coach Allison Johnson for the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.

Johnson was appointed in 2019. Claremont Cricket Club ended the WPCA premier league in fifth position during Johnson’s first season. They won the 2022-23 WPCA premier league title under Johnson.

Claremont Cricket Club ended the 2023-24 and 2024-25 WPCA premier league in fifth and eighth position, respectively.

“Claremont Cricket Club would like to announce that Allison Johnson will not be retained as head coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season,” read Monday’s statement from the club.

“We extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Allison for his dedication, hard work and the contributions he has made during his time with the club. He achieved great success with the club during his six-year tenure as head coach.

“We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours, both personally and professionally.

“The club will soon begin the process of identifying and appointing a new head coach for the upcoming season.”

Victoria Cricket Club and Edgemead Cricket Club, meanwhile, are also hiring new head coaches. Edgemead Cricket Club and Victoria Cricket Club have been promoted to the WPCA first division A and premier league, respectively.
