Blue Downs Cricket Club’s Earl Khan has clinched the opening Club Cricket SA Player of the Week accolade for April 2018.
Khan struck a near century in a title-winning victory over Peninsula Cricket Club in Saturday’s 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association Ama20 Competition first division D final at Newlands in Cape Town.
Captain and Man of the Match Khan gathered seven fours and four sixes en route to an entertaining 93 not out from just 62 deliveries.
His superb vigil powered Blue Downs Cricket Club to a telling final total of 154 for four, after which Peninsula Cricket Club were restricted to an insufficient 126 for six.
He narrowly beat the talented Brandon Tattam and Givon Christian to the award. Tattam starred in the University of Cape Town Cricket Club’s Ama20 Competition first division A final triumph over United Cricket Club, while Christian spearheaded Montrose Cricket Club to victory over Rylands Cricket Club in the Ama20 Competition first division B final.
