Club Cricket SA Player of the Week: Jonathan Reynders

Milnerton Cricket Club’s Jonathan Reynders is the latest recipient of the Club Cricket SA Player of the Week award.

The young left-arm spinner clinched a rare four wickets with consecutive deliveries, securing superb figures of five for 16, as the visiting Milnerton Cricket Club romped to a large victory over hosts Seacrest Cricket Club in the Western Province Cricket Association’s 3D league on 28 November 2015.

The 17-year-old left-armer’s feat occurred across the final four deliveries of his seven-over allotment, with the first victim stumped, the second caught at slip and the final two bowled.

“He bowled really well on a pitch that was quite dry and turned a bit. He gave the ball a lot of flight and delivered the odd bit of wrist spin. We are hoping to gain promotion to the 3C league – and this performance will certainly help,” commented team-mate Leon Russouw.

Reynders’ was not the only hat-trick of the weekend in WPCA club cricket. Hanover Park Cricket Club’s Christopher Lodewyk, too, clinched three wickets in as many deliveries, against Somerset West Cricket Club – but not a fourth.
