Ottoman Cricket Club’s Josh Savage is the latest Club Cricket SA Player of the Week.
Savage snared a remarkable nine wickets on day one of a key 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association premier league fixture against Brackenfell Cricket Club on 21 October.
The former Primrose Cricket Club fast bowler made an immediate impact for his new club, completing telling figures of five for 34 in the first innings and a complementary four for 17 in the second.
The talented right-armer accounted for the dismissals of opener Manrich Kotze, who fell for two ducks, and the dangerous Michael Loubser, in both innings. He was well supported by spinner Liam Goodall, who cherished a first-innings four-for.
Savage will have ample opportunity to build on the outstanding haul of nine for 51 on 28 October, with the hosts well positioned to seal victory over the WPCA premier league newcomers.
Brackenfell Cricket Club left the Boland Cricket Board for the WPCA earlier this year, in order to comply with the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee’s geo-political boundaries.
