A superb all-round performance has earned Durbanville Cricket Club’s Pieter Malan the latest Club Cricket SA Player of the Week award.
Malan struck a near half-century and clinched three key wickets to ensure a resounding 98-run victory over Bellville Cricket Club – in Tuesday, 21 March 2017’s Western Province Cricket Association’s Ama20 Competition premier league final at the Vineyard Oval in Claremont, Town.
The hard-hitting right-hander’s brisk 49 featured two fours and three sixes – and spanned just 37 deliveries. His cameo proved a fitting complement to the entertaining half-ton enjoyed by opening batsman Byron Boshoff.
Seamer Malan, later, clinched telling figures of three for 16 in four overs. His removal of the talented Handre Theron was particularly important, sparking Bellville Cricket Club’s collapse from 38 for one to 87 all out.
