A remarkable nine-wicket haul against Green Point Cricket Club has earned Victoria Cricket Club’s Warrick Rhoda the latest Club Cricket SA Player of the Week award.
Rhoda clinched fine figures of six for 17 in the first innings – and a complementary three for 24 in the second – for telling match figures of nine for 41 in 13 overs.
The right-arm seamer’s prolific performance included the removal of the talented Patrick van Niekerk and veteran Donovan Henry twice, each – and opener Zac Elkin, who struck consecutive centuries against Montrose Cricket Club earlier this season, once.
Hosts Victoria Cricket Club triumphed by an innings and 98 runs, ending the key Western Province Cricket Association first division A two-day fixture inside three sessions.
The result buoyed Victoria Cricket Club’s bid for promotion to the WPCA premier league – after last season’s relegation.
