This week’s accolade is belatedly awarded to Cape Town Cricket Club’s William Hantam, who ultimately trumped several other standout performances in the Western Province Cricket Association’s premier league.
Hantam struck a second-innings 93, with the hosts eventually securing a remarkable 98-run victory over Bellville Cricket Club at the Boon Wallace Oval in Plumstead on 14 November 2015.
The talented left-hander was particularly impressive against a slew of short-pitched bowling from seamer Chris Russell, who plays county cricket for Worcestershire during the South African winter. Hantam, too, enjoyed solid support from the steely Craig Shepherd.
Cape Town Cricket Club currently top the premier league standings – and will host arch rivals Western Province Cricket Association on 21 and 28 November 2015.
Meanwhile, Justin Haynes gathers some praise for a fine century in Claremont Cricket Club’s Reserve A league triumph over Tygerberg Cricket Club.
